The rules for using HoldShoot
Version 2026-10.2 · last updated 19 October 2026
HoldShoot is a place for precision shooters and archers to track their training and to find and work with coaches. HoldShoot is operated by Annspired LLC (an Annspired Labs project). By creating an account you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.
Accounts
- Athlete accounts are for people 18 or older. Athletes under 18 need a parent or guardian to manage their account.
- Independent coach accounts are for individual coaches. A coach account can also track its own scores.
- Business accounts are for academies, ranges, clubs and teams. A business account is run by a person authorised to act for the business. It cannot be used as an athlete account.
- Give accurate information, including your date of birth, and keep your password private. One person per personal account.
Coaches and businesses
- You are responsible for your own coaching, qualifications, insurance and the claims on your page.
- Working with athletes under 18 requires a current, approved background check on your HoldShoot account (for example an NCSI screen through USA Shooting / SafeSport, or a check ordered through HoldShoot). HoldShoot blocks coaching minors until it is approved, and again when it expires.
- Follow the U.S. Center for SafeSport Code and the Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policies, including no one-on-one unobservable contact with minors and no private messaging with minors outside a parent's view.
- Businesses are responsible for the staff they add. Each staff member uses their own personal account and agrees to these terms. While a coach is on a business's team, the lessons, packages and sessions they sell through that business are billed by that business.
Safety
Shooting involves firearms and air guns. Everyone using HoldShoot is responsible for safe handling, range rules and the laws where they train and travel. HoldShoot provides software and information; it does not supervise training and is not responsible for what happens at a range or lesson.
Bookings and payments
- Lessons, camps, events and packages are agreements between the athlete (or their parent or guardian) and the coach or business. HoldShoot is the platform that takes the booking and payment; it is not a party to the coaching.
- Online payments are processed by Stripe. Each coach or business that takes payments has its own Stripe account and agrees to Stripe’s terms, including the Stripe Connected Account Agreement. Money goes to the coach’s or business’s Stripe account and is paid out to their bank by Stripe. HoldShoot never stores card or bank numbers.
- Booking fee (paid by the athlete). Online payments include a booking fee on top of the price. It covers card or bank processing: about 2.9% + 30¢ by card, or 0.8% (capped at $5) by bank transfer. The full amount, with the price, any supplies or range fees, and the booking fee shown separately, appears before you pay.
- Platform fee (paid by the coach or business). HoldShoot keeps a platform fee of 6.5% of the coaching price of each online payment. It is not charged on supplies or range fees, and it is deducted before the payout. HoldShoot will give at least 30 days’ notice in the app before changing this fee.
- Cancellations and refunds are set by the coach or business, who issue refunds from their Stripe account. If a payment is fully refunded, HoldShoot’s platform fee on it is not kept unless the law or Stripe’s rules prevent it; Stripe may not return its processing fee.
- Disputes and chargebacks are handled through the coach’s or business’s Stripe account, under Stripe’s rules.
- Taxes. Coaches and businesses are responsible for their own income tax and for any sales tax on what they sell (for example supplies and range fees, and lessons in states that tax them). Stripe sends coaches and businesses any required tax forms, such as Form 1099-K, for payments made through their Stripe account.
- Coaches and businesses that don’t take online payments arrange payment directly with their athletes; no HoldShoot fee applies to those payments.
- Background checks ordered through HoldShoot are paid for by the coach at the price shown before ordering, and are run by Checkr under its own terms. The fee is not refundable once the check has been ordered.
Events and shooter lists
- A coach may require approval before someone who isn’t one of their athletes joins a public event. When you ask to join, the coach sees your name, photo, age, city and state, and your shooting details (sports, main event, level, club, experience). Not your contact, health or billing details.
- An approved spot is confirmed once it is paid (free events are confirmed on approval).
- A coach may show the list of registered shooters on a public event. Adults appear by name and can link to their public profile; athletes under 18 appear by first name and last initial only, and are never linked.
Public profiles and search
Adults can have a public profile. Your name always shows; you choose which other details show (photo, sports, main event, level, club, about me, city and state, coaching status, your coaches, your match scores and trend, social links, and a contact email or phone you enter for the purpose) in Profile → Public profile, and you can turn the whole profile off at any time. Signed-in members can find public profiles in Search → Athletes, and anyone can open one from an event’s shooter list. Your account email, health and billing details are never public; a contact email or phone shows only if you enter it and turn it on. Athletes under 18 never have a public profile and never appear in athlete search.
Following. Adults can follow shooters with a public profile and coaches or businesses with a published page. You can see who follows you and how many, and you can unfollow or switch off alerts at any time. Followers are alerted to your new public events and, only if you show your personal bests, to the match scores you post (never practice). Athletes under 18 can’t follow or be followed.
Conduct and reporting
- No harassment, abuse, threats, discrimination, spam, fake profiles, false claims or scams.
- Use Report on any page or profile to flag a problem. Reports go to the HoldShoot team; the person reported isn't told who sent it.
- If anyone is in immediate danger, call 911. To report suspected abuse of a minor in sport, contact the U.S. Center for SafeSport and local law enforcement.
- We may remove content and suspend or close accounts that break these terms.
Your content
You own the scores, photos, notes and pages you add. You give HoldShoot permission to store and show them as needed to run the service, including showing your public coach page to anyone with the link. Only add photos you have the right to use, and don't post photos of minors without a parent's consent.
The service
HoldShoot is provided as it is and may change. To the extent the law allows, HoldShoot is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and its total liability is limited to what you paid HoldShoot in the 12 months before the claim.
Changes and contact
If these terms change in a meaningful way we'll tell you in the app, and you may be asked to agree again. Changes to fees take effect no sooner than 30 days after we tell you. Questions: support@holdshoot.com.
